The new Saturday Sampler quilt will be a combination of piecing and appliqué called the The Queen and Her Court: The Crown Jewel. You can choose to do the appliqué in whatever method you prefer or leave it out all together. Either way will result in a beautiful quilt. We will be offering it in two color ways: warm, summery pastel batiks and/or a stunning elegant floral in red, black, blue, green, and gold. Both fabric selections are magnificent. I’ve included a pattern sample from the designer’s website below so you can see the pattern design. Keep in mind we will be doing it in different fabrics as mentioned above. I’m working on the batik sample as we speak and hope to have the floral sample done by mid-January. We have fabric samples in both color ways at the shop to help you make your decisions. This year there will be a change in the joining fee for the program. Typically, each participant is required to purchase their own background fabric. Because there is no common background fabric in this pattern, we will be providing all of the fabric in the program. As a result, the cost to join this year will be $25 to cover the purchase of the "background" fabric. You will need to pre-register for this program so we can ensure we have a fabric kit ready for you on February 6. The way the program works is you come to the shop the first Saturday of every month (some months may change due to holidays) for either the 9:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. session, during which we will show new fabrics, products, have demos, show and tell, and a raffle gift. Sometimes we even have guest speakers! If you come to the session and your previous month’s block is completed, you will receive your next block for free. If you do not attend one of that month’s sessions or your block is not complete, you will need to pay $6 to get your next block and get back into the program. If you attend every month, at the end of the year you will have received all 12 blocks for your original joining fee. We will have finishing kits available so that you can finish your quilt in the suggested layout and fabrics that coordinate with your quilt. They will be available only during the first 3 months of the program, and a $50 nonrefundable deposit must be made to secure your kit.
