No pattern to copy, free to play, not a project that you will know how it will end up.  Begin with an idea, focus on one concept.  Emily will discuss design ideas, guidelines for selecting fabric, center of interest, negative space, and basic design principles (visual unity, focal point, balance, and proportion). 

You will paint the background the first day as well as prepare the appliqué shapes.  Please wear an old shirt on painting day!  On the second day you will begin the fusing and machine appliqué process.  Emily will then show you how to frame your piece on the stretcher bars that have been provided in the kit.
