OATMEAL WITH APPLES AND RAISINS
(Serves 4-6)

I’m a big oatmeal fan; eat it every morning for breakfast.  Now that the cooler weather is coming, this is a nice treat for those mornings when you are looking for something to warm your stomach.  Prepare the night before, and wake up to the delicious smell of brown sugar and cinnamon.

2 apples, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup raisins
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
4 cups water
2 cups old fashioned oatmeal, uncooked
1 tsp salt

  1. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon with apples and raisins, coating well. 
  2. Mix oatmeal and salt into water. 
  3. Put apple/raisin mix in bottom of crock pot.  Pour oatmeal mix on top.  Do not stir.  Cover and cook on low for 8 to 9 hours.  Stir thoroughly and serve with milk.
